“I met Coach Themba a couple of years ago when our company, Ster Kinekor, subsidised a Biggest Loser competition. Though I did not need to lose a huge amount of weight, I wanted to tone and firm up. Themba has been the perfect coach for all of us: those of us who had a huge amount of weight to lose and those of us who just wanted to be fitter and healthier. He committed to training us three days a week, and he was there every single time. He pushed us and encouraged us all the way, even on the days when we were tired or listless. Because I wanted to firm up, rather than lose weight, he gave me specific exercises for my body, and showed me how to do them.

This year our company subsidised a Know Your Numbers initiative, and Themba was our coach again. This time he did all our measurements and weigh-ins, as well as the training. It doesn’t matter if there’s one of you or 10, Themba will be there. He also asked us our opinions on doing alternative exercises, and for a while we did some Zumba and some aerobic exercises.

I can say that Coach Themba has become like family. He encourages each one of us, pushing us to our limit and beyond. We have all seen the difference in our bodies and are looking forward to the next initiative!

I was shot few years back and broke my leg. Since then I stopped training because I didn’t want to affect my leg in any way. And also with the advises I keep on getting from people out there didn’t help at all, but four months ago I decided to join a program called KNOW YOUR NUMBER offered by Fitness For All, with Themba being our trainer and that changed my life.

Initially it was very difficult for me because I wanted to do my own exercises that will not affect my leg, and Themba was very helpful with that, but throughout the programme with the encouragement of Themba I just decided to do same exercises with the entire group, even if they were doing leg exercises I joined them, and that was really amazing and I never looked back from there.

Within the four months, I have really learned and achieved a lot. I have learned to eat healthier food. The exercises were great, more especially stomach exercises, and am so proud of myself at the moment, because I can do things that I never thought I will be able to do.

The programme is now finished, but I decided to start training by myself regularly, and I am enjoying every minute of it.

I have been running with Themba the Coach for two years. When I joined  Fitness For All running club the longest distance I had ever ran in my life was 10km, and that was completed with difficulty. I had never imagined that one day I could run and finish a marathon. Within 5 months of being with the group I was running 21km comfortably.

Themba as a coach is very knowledgeable with regards to fitness and nutrition, he is a slave driver but very patient. Themba will run with you for a day or two, then compile a program based on your ability and your goals. My goal was to run and finish a Marathon, the goal was accomplished within a year.

For as long as I can remember I had always been on some form of a diet program, Yo-Yo dieting was part of my life, the misery ended when I started running with Themba. Within a month I had lost more than 4kg and for the first time in my life I could eat what I want and when I want. In total I have lost 10kg and have easily maintained the weight loss for more than two years now.

My job is very demanding and strenuous. Running prevents the burnout.  It a place I escape to just recharge and to get freedom. I love running, it is the best “me time” I get. Thank s to Temba the coach.

I joined Fitness for All one year ago at a time when I was looking for a break from my monotonous indoor gym routine. I never thought I had it in me to be a long distance runner however I wanted to take advantage of Coach Themba’s program not necessarily to compete in races but to get my strength and fitness up.

It’s now a year later and I am proud to say that I have turned into a long distance runner that has ran two half marathons and one full marathon finishing all in decent time for a beginner. Coach Themba’s program has not only helped me manage my weight without obsessively counting calories but more importantly it has helped me with training my mind. Most often than not most of us are plagued with self- doubt and negativity. We tell ourselves what we cannot do and where we fall short. Fitness for All has shown me that the body responds best when your mind is also aligned to your physical ability. Coach Themba not only focuses on physical ability but places an importance on a positive mind-set.  All in all the strides I have made in this past year have filtered into other facets of my life. I am bolder and more positive and as a result I am a better professional as well. Being able to keep up with the Coach’s tough training program and completing marathons has empowered me in ways I never expected. I am definitely in a much better place and shape than I was a year ago.
